Montreal, October 7, 2013 – Two years ago to the day, RDS launched its third TV channel devoted exclusively to sports: RDS2. As it celebrates its second anniversary, the channel is continuing to evolve and expand its programming to provide even more viewing pleasure to its subscribers.

“An average of 701,000* viewers tune in to RDS2 each week, which represents an increase of 62%* over its first year on the air and confirms that we are heading in the right direction with this channel,” said Gerry Frappier, president and general manager of RDS. “By offering a full slate of major pro sports, live events and sporting discoveries of all kinds, RDS2 meets fans’ high expectations in terms of both the quality and diversity of its content.”

RDS2 broadcasts 24 hours a day and offers over 1,500 hours of live content each year, thanks to programming that combines many major properties with diverse niche sports.

RDS2 subscribers can watch NHL hockey, CFL and NFL football, MLB baseball, MLS and Barclays Premier League soccer, various NASCAR series races, PGA golf, NCAA basketball (March Madness), the Canada Cup of Curling and Skate Canada International – not to mention sailing competitions, Australian rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, high-quality sports documentaries and shows such as Accès Golf or The Amazing Race Canada.

RDS2’s overall programming is popular with males (index of 129) and blue-collar workers (index of 117), while also offering content appreciated by other market segments, including ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournaments, enjoyed by many female viewers (index of 139), or Tour de France cycling, which greatly appeals to university graduates (index of 127) and professionals (index of 145).
